Shiroor, Sep 5: Teachers’ Day 2012 was celebrated at Green Valley National School and Junior College on 5th September 2012. The colourful Ceremony started at 08.45am. Teachers were received ceremoniously by the students and escorted to the School Hall for the official celebrations. The Chief Guest of the day was Mohamed Meeran Sahib, Senior Vice President of Shiroor Welfare Trust. The Prefects ushered the staff and the Chief Guest and felicitated them with flowers and greetings. Pratishta P. Rao of II PUC welcomed the gathering and gave the Teachers’ Day Greetings on behalf of Students. Teachers Day Song was presented by the School Choir.
Principal John Mathew in his address thanked the Management for the care they take of the teachers and advised the students to benefit from the service of teachers and imbibe the noble qualities envisioned by them. He requested the teachers to rededicate to the noble cause of imparting good education.
The Chief Guest Meeran Saheb, Senior Vice President in his address elucidated from the life of Dr. Radhakrishnan and highlighted on the important role of teachers in an emerging world. He requested the teachers to be role models and constructive in laying the foundation for a new generation. Good teachers are always loved and admired by their students and are for posterity. He highlighted the need for holistic development where emphasis is not only on academics but also in good virtues and qualities to enable the person to be a good individual.
Man has learned to fly, swim like a fish but does not know how to be a human being and it is the duty of our teachers to plant the seeds of compassion and good citizenship among students. He appreciated the service of the teachers and wished them all the blessings in the days to come.
Teachers and non teaching staff were awarded for their service to green Valley. Rajani S. Koppad proposed the Vote of Thanks which was followed by Variety Entertainment Programmes by students.
