Sullia, Sep 3 (ToI): The combing operations by the Anti Naxal Force (ANF) on Monday at Subrahmanya failed to make much headway in tracing out the naxals ot their whereabouts.
This follows a brief gunfight between the ANF and Naxals on Sunday after Naxals opened fire at the personnel. While none of the Anti Naxal Force (ANF) men was hurt in the gunfight, casualties on the other side are not known yet.
ANF IGP Alok Kumar said the combing operations will continue for a few more days. At present, 150 men and officers are combing that area.
We searched the area thoroughly all we could find was bullet marks on trees. We don't know if anybody was injured as (blood) traces if any, have been washed away in the rain,'' Kumar said.
On Sunday, Naxals about three to four in number, sensed trouble when they were about 30-40 metres away from the ambush point and opened fire at the force. The ambush was set up after receiving information that there was naxal movement in that area. The ANF team returned fire and lobbed grenades. But the naxals escaped.
