Baghdad, Aug 29 (IANS/AKI): Iraq Tuesday carried out 21 executions for terrorism-related crimes, the justice ministry said.
There were three women among those executed. Iraq has executed 91 people so far this year.
The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay earlier this year called for a halt to Iraq's executions, expressing concern that the country was carrying them out without transparency in court proceedings.
Amnesty International in June issued a report condemning Iraq's use of capital punishment.
Iraq has also carried out mass executions this year. A total of 14 people were put to death Feb 7, after 17 were executed Jan 31.
