Mangalore, Aug 28: Ashwin J Pereira who has been appointed as the state secretary of JD(S) youth wing said that more youth from the Yuva Morcha and NSUI will join the JD(S) youth wing soon.
After being appointed as the state secretary of JD(S) youth wing with the order from S Madhu Bangarappa, Pereira addressing a press conference held on Tuesday August 28, said that many youth have shown their interest in joining JD(S).
Ashwin has been an active member of Bharathiya Catholic Yuva Sanchalana, Gantalkatte Church empowerment committee and is a degree holder in Diploma Engineering in electrical, a release stated.
M B Sadashiva, president, DK district unit of JD(S) said that a large convention will be organized at Town Hall, Mangalore on September 24 and added that JD(S) leader and former CM Kumarswamy will attend the programme.
Asserting that the convention indicates a political u-turn, many leaders from other political parties will join JD(S). Asked about Nagaraj Shetty’s joining the party, he told to wait and see as more leaders from other parties are joining JD(S). He added JD(S) has been knocking the doors of many leaders and vice versa.
He rued that some areas of Katipalla have been facing potable water even after rain has hit the region; priorities of poor people have been neglected by both BJP and congress.
On September 2, a convention of fishermen will be held in Mangalore and on September 3, it will be held in Kadaba.
He noted that this move of the party is as part of its preparation for the soon to arrive assembly and Mangalore City Corporation election and added the party is working on constructive ways to win the election. He said that if the JD(S) comes into power, issues related to farmers will be addressed.
JDS(S) leaders Amarnath Shetty, Sushil Noronha, Aslam among others were present.
