Cops Pilot Scalded Chinese Boy to Hospital


Shanghai, Aug 28 (IANS): A police car escorted a taxi carrying a two-year-old who was scalded by boiling water, slicing through rush-hour traffic and covering a 40 km distance to the hospital here in 30 minutes.

The two-year-old boy suffered burns at his home and was rushed to Shanghai Ruijin Hospital in downtown Huangpu district in about 30 minutes. The taxi was led by a police car.

The boy suffered burns, mostly on his hips and legs, and doctors said the burns could have caused a shock if his treatment was delayed, reported Shanghai Daily citing Xinmin.cn

The police received a call that the boy was on the way to hospital in a taxi and a a police car was promptly dispatched to lead the taxi through dense rush-hour traffic.

The boy arrived at the hospital in about 30 minutes while the 40 km journey normally takes about an hour.
