Kabul, Aug 26 (IANS): Thirty-three 33 Taliban insurgents have been killed by police, army and the NATO-led coalition in Afghanistan since Saturday, the interior ministry said Sunday.
Up to six other insurgents were wounded and two detained during operations in Kabul, Nangarhar, Kandahar, Zabul, Uruzgan, Logar, Ghazni, Paktika and Helmand provinces, the ministry.
Xinhua quoted the authorities as saying that weapons were seized. It was not clear if any of the security personnel were killed.
More than 350 insurgents have been killed, 60 wounded and over 180 detained since the beginning this month, according to the figures released by the interior ministry.
