KSBDB to Hold 3-day Biofuel Mela in Bangalore from Aug 10

Bangalore, Aug 8: The Karnataka State Biofuel Development Board (KSBDB) will hold a three-day biofuel mela in Bangalore from August 10 to create awareness about the importance of biofuel.

Showcasing the latest technologies available in the sector is another key objective of the biofuel mela in which hundreds of farmers, students and writes were expected to participate in various events.

Briefing reporters on the detais, KSBDB Executive Chairman Y B Ramakrishna and Managing Director A K Monappa said the mela would be held on the campus of the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath (KCP) in Bangalore.

The three-day biofuel mela would also have several stage events, demonstrations, exhibitions, film shows, and cultural events based on the biofuel theme.

The State ranked third in the country in ethanol production (135 million litres a year), they said pointing out that Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh were ahead of the State.

Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar would inaugurate the mela on August 10 at 11 am.

Both the Deputy Chief Ministers -- Revenue and Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister K S Eshwarappa and Home and Transport Minister R Ashok -- would be chief guests.

They said BMTC buses running on biofuel would be painted by KCP students with biofeul theme.

On August 11, Minister for Women and Child Welfare Kalakappa S Bandi would flag off ‘Putani Railu’ at Balabhavan, Cubbon Park here.
