New Delhi, Jul 30 (IANS): The Congress has decided to "ascertain the facts" regarding its MP Vijay Darda praising Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi at a function in Ahmedabad Sunday and said it will decide later if any further action was warranted.
"As far as Vijay Darda is concerned, the general secretary who looks after both Gujarat and Maharashtra concurrently has been asked to ascertain all the facts and circumstances and once he is cognizant with all the facts and circumstances, then the process, if at all, it has to go further would be decided," party spokesman Manish Tewari told reporters here.
Party leader Mohan Prakash is in-charge of party affairs in Maharashtra as well as Gujarat.
Darda, a Rajya Sabha MP from Maharashtra, had described Modi as a "lion of Gujarat" while praising his style of functioning at an award ceremony in Ahmedabad.
His comment had created a flutter in the Congress circles.
Modi had used Darda's remarks to take a dig at the Congress and had said that the MP may get a show cause notice for his words.
