Udupi: Gold Jewellery Stolen from Merchant at Bar

Udupi, Jul 27: The police are on the lookout for the culprits who stole 300 grams of gold jewellery from a Hiriadka-based gold merchant, here on July 26. The gold was worth Rs 7.5 lac.

The police said that the theft occurred when the gold merchant P M Dinesh, after delivering his ornament to Mangalore and Udupi shops, proceeded to meet one of his relative at the ‘Narthaki Bar’. He went to use the washroom to wash his face and left the bag on a chair. In moments after returnign he noticed that he lost his bag.

According to a flower shop seller near the bar, at least four people had stolen the gold bag and ran away in a Bollero.

The case was registered at the police Hiryadka police station on the same day. Police have begun investigations.
