Mangalore, Jul 27: Dr Shailarani Bolar was recently awarded a doctoral degree for her thesis, 'Employee Motivation and Work Performance of Library Professionals working in Academic Colleges affiliated to Mangalore University', by Mangalore University.
Dr Shailarani Bolar, a personality with varied interests and multiple co-curricular and extra- curricular activity was born on August 16, 1964 in Jeppu, Mangalore to Susheela B and K P Kamalaksha.
She completed her schooling from Cascia High School, Mangalore and graduated in B A from Besant women’s College. After completing her graduation she did her post-graduation in library and information science with specialization in information technology. Not satiated with this, she completed her MA in English literature from Karnataka University. Now she has a doctorate degree to her credit.
She started her career as a librarian in the department of Collegiate Education in Karnataka in the year 1986. She has put in 26 years of Government service and is currently serving as Selection Grade Librarian, head of the department of library and information science in Government First Grade College, Mangalore. For the past three years she has been taking up classes in English literature for the under graduate students of Karnataka State Open University at the Mangalore Study Centre.
She has participated in several national and international conferences and seminars related to information science. She has also co-authored a number of conference proceedings and articles. Her husband Prabhakar P K is a senior office assistant in the department of Health, Mangalore City Corporation. She is blessed with a daughter who is pursuing her MBA at St Joseph’s Engineering College, Vamanjoor, Mangalore.
