London, Jul 20 (IANS): Britain's retail sales volume increased slightly in June by 0.1 percent from May, but rose 1.6 percent from a year earlier, according to estimates by the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
The ONS said that "summer sale" starting in June with reduced prices in clothes and footwear stores contributed to boosting sales, reported Xinhua.
But continuous rainfall and strong winds last month restrained food sales, said the ONS.
