Yangon, Jul 17 (IANS): American company General Electric (GE) has signed a $2-million deal with a Myanmar firm to supply X-ray machines for hospitals.
This is Myanmar's first private business deal with an American company since the US lifted most its trade sanctions against the country, Mizzima News reported Monday.
GE has signed the agreement with Yangon-based Sea Lion company.
Stuart Dean, head of GE's Asia operation, said the company will expand to other sectors.
A deal on two 25-megawatt gas turbines and setting up of a GE office in the country is also being finalised, he said.
