Hyderabad, Jul 11 (IANS): Andhra Pradesh legislator Kodali Nani, who was suspended from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Monday for meeting YSR Congress Party leader Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy in jail, Wednesday hit back at TDP chief N.Chandrababu Naidu.
He told reporters that the TDP is not Naidu's personal property and that he wants to remain in the party founded by the late N.T. Rama Rao, popularly known as NTR. He said he was in politics because of NTR and his son N. Harkrishna.
Nani, the member of the state assembly from Gudivada constituency in Krishna district, has decided to challenge his suspension from the party in a court of law.
Nani is a close friend of popular Telugu actor Junior NTR, a grandson of NTR. Junior NTR has already denied any role in Nani's meeting Jaganmohan Reddy and his mother Y.S. Vijayamma.
Nani defended his meetings with both Jagan, as the YSR Congress leader is popularly called, and his mother and said he has personal relations with the family of late chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
He criticised Naidu for making wild allegations against Rajasekhara Reddy even after his death. "People still treat Rajasekhara Reddy as a god but Chandrababu Naidu is making baseless allegations," he said.
Nani rubbished the allegations by TDP leaders that he "sold" himself to Jagan's party for Rs.30 crore and accused Naidu of "selling" a Rajya Sabha seat for Rs.300 crore.
He said he would chalk out his future course of action after consulting his supporters.
