Kohima, Jan 27: Nagaland Governor La Ganesan unveiled the Chief Minister’s Mobile Operation Theatre during the state’s 76th Republic Day celebrations, in the presence of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and other dignitaries. The groundbreaking initiative is aimed at providing advanced surgical and healthcare services to rural and remote areas of Nagaland.
Officials hailed the project as a pioneering effort to address healthcare disparities and promote health equity in underserved regions. Equipped with cutting-edge technology, the mobile facility boasts keyhole surgery capabilities and includes portable diagnostic tools such as ultrasound, X-ray, endoscopy, and blood testing equipment. The unit is also designed for minimally invasive surgeries, ensuring access to specialised care in far-flung areas.
A senior health department official noted that a dedicated team from Kohima Hospital, along with doctors from private and government healthcare sectors, will operate the mobile unit. The initiative aims to deliver high-quality healthcare services directly to the doorsteps of the underprivileged, bridging the gap between urban medical facilities and rural healthcare needs.
In addition to life-saving interventions, the Mobile Operation Theatre serves as a model for innovative healthcare delivery, setting a benchmark for similar projects in other states.
During the event, Governor La Ganesan also highlighted the progress of key healthcare initiatives in the state. He noted that the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS), under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY), has empanelled 65 hospitals in and outside Nagaland, benefiting 21,415 individuals to date. Similarly, under the Chief Minister’s Universal Life Insurance Scheme (CMLIS), with a budget allocation of Rs 15 crore, 13 families have availed insurance benefits.
Additionally, the Governor mentioned the successful implementation of the Ayushman Arogya Shivir, a monthly health mela, which continues to provide essential healthcare services to the masses.
The launch of the Chief Minister’s Mobile Operation Theatre marks a significant step toward transforming healthcare delivery in Nagaland, ensuring that even the most remote communities have access to advanced medical care.
