Dubai, Jul 10: H D Revanna Gowda (Hardanahalli Deve Gowda Revanna) elder son of former Prime Minister of India, H D Deve Gowda, and brother of H D Kumaraswamy was on a private visit here, on Sunday July 8.
He is an Indian politician and a member of the Legislative Assembly in the Indian state of Karnataka, representing the Holenarasipur Hassan district constituency. His political party is Janata Dal (Secular).
Promoter of Kannada in this part of the world, Mandya Zafarulla Khan, MD of Zain International Hotels, always supports and hosts dinner to visiting dignitaries every time inviting all the leaders of various Kannada organisations in UAE. This time too he initiated the dinner in an urgent call and was successful in arranging it at Saffron Restaurant, Atlantis Hotel, here, at around 8 pm for the visiting dignitary attended by leaders of various Kannadiga Associations in UAE.
Revanna Gowda was greeted at the entrance of Atlantis Hotel and thereafter welcomed at the venue with flower bouquet. Ganesh Rai welcomed the guests and the dignitary, briefed on Revanna and Khan Sahib, their connections and good deeds they are being doing for the needy Kannadigas respectively. Representatives of various associations presented Revanna with mementos and flower bouquets. On behalf of all the associations Sarvotham Shetty spoke followed by a small speech by Dr B K Yousuf. Later Zafarulla Khan spoke briefing details of their association with the Gowda family and also thanked all those attended the function.
Revanna Gowda is married to Bhavani Revanna and has two sons Suraj and Prajwal. He won the Holenarasipur Karnataka Legislative Assembly seat in 1994. He again contested unsuccessfully in 1999. He was elected again in the 2004 general elections for the Karnataka Legislative Assembly from the same constituency. This time he became minister for PWD (Public Works Department) and energy department in Dharam Singh and H D Kumaraswamy government.
H D Revanna was also the president of Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) for nine years.
The programme concluded with sumptuous international buffet dinner at Atlantis Saffron Restaurant.
