Udupi, Jul 9: Shree Vishwa Vallabha Thirtha Swamiji of Paryaya Sri Sode Vadiraj Math has decided to renovate the Shree Krishan Brahmaratha (Chariot) and the work is already in progress.
The ancient chariot is 250 years old and it is losing its integrity said Swamiji. There is need for renovation and the cost was estimated at 30 lacs earlier. But, after looking into the condition of the chariot, Balkur Gopal Acharya, chief architect said it would cost around one crore.
Carvings on the outer side of the chariot will not be worked upon, whereas necessary alterations will be made to the interior design. To sustain the chariot for a longer life, around 1000 cubic feet teak wood will be used, said Swamiji.
Around 50 to 60 architects will be working to complete the project by November said Gopal Acharya.
All devotees are requested to contribute towards this project.
