Mangalore, Jul 3: The newly-built presbytery of Our Lady of Health parish, Shirva, was inaugurated recently. Udupi Episcopal vicar Fr Baptist Menezes inaugurated the newly-built presbytery. Shirva assistant parish priest Fr Gratian and Fr Naveen led the prayer service.
The Thanksgiving Mass was presided over by Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo along with many clergies. Bishop Lobo presided over the stage programme held later at the parish hall. Fr Baptist Menezes, Shirva parish priest Fr Stany Tauro, Shirva parish council vice-president Irwin D’Souza, and secretary Melvyn Aranha were present on the dais. NRI Lawrence D’Souza, Kuwait-based Caesar’s Group, was felicitated along with donors to the presbytery on the same occasion. The programme concluded with a sumptuous food for all.
I totally agree with Dr.Richy Nazareth. The Nazareth family were the wealthiest people in Shirva those days. I remember this as a child. They are also the founders of the Pilar Church.I remember that Margaret used to come every year for her summer vacation with her late father Judge P.A.Nazareth.They used to spend a month in Sooda village adjoining Shirva ,where they had over 150 acres of agricultural land probably the most fertile land in the area.Sometimes young people forget the oldies ! This is a tragedy.Good luck to the Church, the Priests and the parishoners. The presbytery looks really beautiful.Congratulations !
Congratulations and best wishes to Rev.Fr.Stany, Fr.Gratian and Fr.Naveen on the newly build house of Shirva Parish. 'The Shepherd comes to meet his flock and bless the house that's newely build'. God made it possible to build this beautiful house. Lets worship him with pray. This house is a wonderful gift given to a Shirva Parish priests through Gods blessings. The building is much admired..!!
I feel the Governor of Rajasthan H.E. Mrs Margaret Alva should have been invited besides her brother ,retired Indian Ambassador Pascal Allan Nazareth. After all her father Late Justice Pascal Ambrose Nazareth, grandfather and big landlord Lawrence Nazareth hailed from Shirva and were the founders of the Shirva Church. The above are my close relations.
