Bellary: New Anugraha School Building Opened for Differently-abled Children

Bellary, Jul 2: The newly built school building for differently-abled children was recently inaugurated at Bellary.

Fully funded by the Anugraha Foundation in memory of late Y Umadevi and late Y Mahabaleshwarappa, it is a dream of project of Basavaraj, Neelamma and their family members, ably supported by the Bishop of Bellary.

Readings from the holy scriptures of different religions preceded the blessing and inauguration.

Bishop of Bellary Henry D’Souza, who is the president of Anugraha Foundation, blessed the new school building. Bishop D’Souza lauded the philanthropic work of the Basavaraj family which is promoting the noble cause of service to the physically and mentally challenged children of Bellary. He declared that Anugraha Foundation and the Anugraha School are shining symbols of inter-religious service to humanity.

The new building was inaugurated by Sri Gavisiddeswara Mahaswamiji, Karthik, Basavaraj Satish Yeachareddy, Sr Linette, AC and other members of the foundation by lighting a traditional lamp.

While lighting the lamp, the prayer “Asathoma Satgamaya, Thamasoma Jyothirgamaya, Mirthyoma Amirthamgamaya, Ohm, Shanthi, Shanthi, Shanthi…” which means “Lord lead me from untruth to truth, darkness to light, death to life, O Lord lead us. Peace, Peace, Peace”, was recited.

Addressing the gathering Swamiji lauded the services rendered by Mahabaleshwarappa and his sons to the society, particularly in Bellary and appreciated the noble initiative such as Anugraha School. “The substance of all Holy books is to love one’s neighbor with compassion and never harm others,” quoted Swamijii. 

Addressing the gathering Sr Linette, provincial superior, Apostolic Carmel, thanked the architect, engineer and other laborers who worked hard to complete the building in a years time. She also assured the service of the sisters of Apostolic Carmel to the differently-abled children of Bellary.

BL Anand Rao, Governor, Governor Rotary District 3160, lauded the services of Anugraha. “They are special children and to be treated with love and dignity,” reminded Kartik Yeachareddy in his brief, yet moving message. 

The school building is designed and built to be user friendly for differently-abled persons. It comprises of ten classrooms, three rooms for rehabilitation purposes, a computer lab, a media room and an amphitheatre for 100 people.
