Kundapur: Four Youngsters Drown in Water Tank

Kundapur, Jul 2: In a tragic incident, a young woman and three children drowned in a large water tank situated at Hattiangadi gram panchayat in Kundapur on Sunday July 1 in the evening.
The deceased have been identified as Nayana (20), Naveen (13), Pavan (11), Pavithra (16). They belonged to labour class families. On Sunday evening, some of the residents noticed the group, making their way towards the tank but did not bother as they assumed that the children knew the ponds depth.
On Sunday evening, these children who belonged to labourers went for a swim and passed along the path that lead to tank, said locals. They thought that these kids might know the depth of the tank, so did not bother.
The kids did not return home until dark. Noticing this,the people rushed to the tank and found the children's footwear which made the scene clear. While searching they found Nayana’s body first. The fire brigade arrived at the spot and with the help of the local people and they found the other bodies.
Sources said that Naveen and Pavan were studying in Kudlu higher primary school and Pavithra at the Kundapur government college.
