London, June 25 (IBNS): Serbian Tennis star Novak Djokovic moved to the second round of Wimbledon by defeating Juan Carlos Ferrero of Spain here on Monday.
Novak beat Ferrero by 6-3, 6-3, 6-1 margin in the first round clash.
Swiss Tennis icon Roger Federer beat Albert Ramos of Spain by 6-1 6-1 6-1 margin to move to the second round of the Men's Singles event on Monday.
Russian Tennis star Maria Sharapova stormed into the secod round of the women's singles event by crashing Australia's Anastasia Rodionova by 6-2, 6-3 margin.
However, spectators were stunned as five time Wimbledon champion Venus Williams suffered a shocking defeat at the hands of Elena Vesnina of Russia in the very first round clash.
Vesnina defeated Williams by 6-1, 6-3 margin.
This was one of the poor performances by the Tennis star from US in the past 15 years.
Williams had won the Wimbledon title earlier in 2000, 2001, 2005, 2007 and 2008.
