Udupi, Jun 25: In a case of suspected murder, a woman was found dead at her house in Kemmannu near here on Monday June 25.
The deceased has been identified as Shakuntala (45), wife of Ashok who is staying in Muscat. The couple have two children Akshay (16) and Akshita (12).
The murder was discovered when Akshita came back from school in the afternoon. She called for her mother and on not getting any response, went into her mother's bedroom. To her utter shock, she found her lying on the floor with a shawl tightened around her neck.
A neghbour said that two men who came on a scooter were seen entering the house at around 2 pm. They left the house after a few minutes, it is said, raising no cause for suspicion at the time.
The motive behind the crime is yet to be ascertained. The police have ruled out theft as nothing was missing from the house. It is suspected that some dispute may have led to the murder.
Shakuntala had been staying in Mumbai earlier, and had settled with her children in Kemmanu only two months ago. Her husband Ashok is working in Muscat.
