Mangalore: Activists Catch Lover Couple, Beat up Youth

Mangalore, Jun 25: A youth was beaten up by activists of a local outfit after he and his girlfriend belonging to a different religion were caught cozying up near Morgan's Gate here on Sunday June 24 evening.
The youth is from Bantwal, while the girl is working for a domestic call centre. The youth used to meet the girl every day after her shift and their relationship grew. Their routine meet was noticed by the local group.
On Sunday evening the couple met each other and went to a deserted spot nearby. The group followed and caught them, and on inquiry the youth identfied himself as 'Rahul'. In addition, he was wearing a thread and a chain normally worn by Hindus.
Angered by the 'false' name uttered by the youth, the activists thrashed him and handed him over to the police. The youth is said to have sustained severe injuries.
Pandeshwar police called both families and let the youth with a warning.
