Bangalore, Jun 21: More than two years after the formation of the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Council, the D V Sadananda Gowda ministry has nominated 16 members to it.
The State Government on Thursday issued a notification nominating 16 members under Section 7(b) of the Karnataka Municipal Corporation (KMC) Act, 1976.
The term of the nominated BBMP members is co-terminus with the term of the present BBMP Council.
The nominated members are from different Legislative Assembly constituencies in the City.
As the strength of BBMP Council is 198, the State Government can nominate a maximum of 20 members as the KMC Act empowers the Government to nominate members not exceeding 10 per cent of the total strength of the Council.
The 16 nominated city fathers are:
Dwarakanath (Dalu) - Shantinagar Assembly constituency; A.G. Krishna Reddy - Chikpet; G V Chinnagiriyappa - Jayanagar; S C Vishwanath Gowda Govindarajnagar); B N Raghavendra - Malleshwaram; G Gopalakrishna - Basavanagudi; B V Ramakrishna - Padmanagara; L Srinivas - Hebbal; S Lakshmisagar Reddy - C V Ramangar; K V Venkatesh - Dasarahalli; D Ramesh - Bangalore South; Sharatchandra - Bommanahalli; Kempegowda - Yelahanka; N A Narayanaswamy - Mahadevapura; Muniraju - Yeshwanthapura; and Srinivas - K R Puram.
