Udupi, Jun 7: Congress MP K Jayaprakash Hegde on Wednesday June 6 said that he was confident of the party's victory in the upcoming MLC election.
Addressing a press meet, he said that Congress is sure to win in both southwest graduates and teachers constituencies.
Hegde said the party had announced its candidates for MLC election eight months in advance which provided them enough time to reach out to the voters. He expressed his complete belief in the Congress candidate for the South West Graduates Constituency S P Dinesh. He said that he is the perfect member for this election. He started campaigning six to seven month in advance.
When asked for his opinion regarding BJPs campaign using their existing political power (BEOs are used as mediator for campaigning between teachers), he said for 24 years they have done no forceful campaigns which have any meaning.
“BJP has done nothing for the teachers, graduates and the unemployed. Public see the work, they have done no campaigns”, he added.
In a setback to the ruling BJP in Karnataka, the Congress extracted the Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha seat with K Jayaprakash Hegde emerging victorious in the bypoll by a margin of 45,724 votes. After the election for the first time he called for the press meet. On that he said it is a new experience for him in Lok sabha and he is lucky to get budget sections.
He is working on many major issues like fisheries related problems and break water issue. State government is spending on the ongoing break water solution, now the center is supposed to provide the ransom of 84 cr.
