Belthangady, June 6: In an investigation carried out by Belthangady police, inter-state thieves were caught here on Monday June 4.
The accused have been identified as N Basavaraj (23), N Lokesh (24), Saroja (44), Kavitha (28), Manjula ratna (35), Srinivasa Sina (25), Ganesh (25).
Tata safari car, knife, iron rods, chilly powder, mobile phones, ATM cards and cash worth Rs 6,640 have been recovered from them.
These thieves would normally divert attention and snatch valuables. Police suspect that the safari car seized from them was stolen in a big heist which they used for their activities.
On May 30 around 5.30 am, Bharath Singh from Dharmasthala was travelling in his car while these thieves stopped his car and snatched all his valuables. As per the complaint, the group of thieves who attacked him consisted of four men and three women.
Under the guidance of Abhishek Goyel, district SP, three special investigation teams were formed to track the thieves. Investigation process was carried out and the thieves were caught near Charmadi.
The accused are handed over to judicial custody. Further investigation is on.
Bhaskar Rai, SI Yogesh Kumar BC, Poonjalakatte SI Madava Kudlu , Girish, Jagadish Reddy, head constable Kushallapa, Paulos, Laxman, Bhaskar, Dayanand, staff personnel Praveen, Naveen, Krishna Shashidra, Shivananda, Geethe, drivers BS Budira and Kanakaraj among others were part of the investigation team.
