Mangalore: Wall Near Karangalpady Collapses Due to Heavy Rains

Mangalore, Jun 5: A wall next to Mahendra Arcade, Karangalpady collapsed due to heavy rains on the intervening night between Monday June 4 and Tuesday June 5.

Construction work for a new road was in progress. It was a two-month project and had just begun a week ago. Foundation work was already done and the side pillars were ready to be installed.

Due to heavy rain, one of the support walls collapsed, hence hindering the construction work. The water pipeline has been cut off and the water is flowing towards the foundation pit, which in turn has been a big problem to the contractors, said one of them.

    First of all look at the quality of red stones used for retaining wall. Then take a look at the quality of work. Finally all the dry months were gone and now when rain starts and all the road work and gutter works starts. This is MCC operation. Just drive by City Hospital and Mallikatta and notice the fate of Mangaloreans walking on middle of the road in between rowdy bus and tipper drivers waiting for a death and destruction. Started gutter work when first rain fell in city. Now Joint commissioner Mr.Rao is nowhere to be seen. Corporator of the area is day dreaming of nightmares he is having as Corporator.
