Udupi: Boy Commits Suicide After Confusion in Exam Results

Depressed over his exam results, Jeevan Shetty, a 14-year-old boy allegedly committed suicide here on Friday June 1 evening.

The reason behind his death was due to misunderstanding of results. He thought that he passed from class eight to class nine, but when the new academic year began he came to know that he failed. Ashamed of himself and shocked by the result he hung himself to a tree near Kuthigebettu bridge.

Jeevan is one of the three children of late Prabhakar Shetty belonging to Matti Bailu, Kuthige in Bamarbettu Village. He was a student of Heriyadka Government Junior College, high school section.

His uncle Sudhakar Shetty registered a complaint at Heriyadka police station.

    How can such a mistake happen? The results came months back and he came to know only when he went to attend his new class of 9th. grade. something is fishy and a young boy killed himself due to shame. May his soul rest in peace and give comfort to the bereaved family.

    Education become very stressful and competetion to the students. They embrace to end their life because of no social morale from the family and society. Apart from the education it is essential to encourage them how to fight with failure instead of ending their precious life.
