Pakistan Tests Nuclear-capable Missile

Islamabad, May 29 (IANS): Pakistan Tuesday successfully test-fired its nuclear-capable Hatf missile.

The surface-to-surface Hatf IX has a range of 60 km and can carry nuclear warheads, said the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the armed forces.

The test was witnessed by military officials.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani have congratulated the experts on the successful test of Hatf IX, the official APP news agency reported.

Pakistan, which conducted its first successful nuclear tests in 1998, has developed several nuclear-capable missiles and routinely conducts tests.
