Mangalore, May 20: JD(S) Dakshina Kannada district committee celebrated former Prime Minister (PM) and JD(S) national president Deve Gowda’s 80th birthday at Cheshire Home, Rehabilitation Centre, Kankanady, on Sunday May 20.
State former minister Amarnath Shetty distributed cake and fruits to the inmates of Cheshire Home on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Shetty said that the former PM expected to celebrate his birthday in a meaningful way in the midst of the destitute and orphaned. He also appreciated the Christians in serving the poor and downtrodden in the society.
JD(S) state vice-president Sushil Noronha commended Gowda’s five decades of service to Karnataka and the nation.
JD(S) Dakshina Kannada district president Mohammed Kunhi, general secretary Vasant Poojary, Mohammed Rafiq, Ram Ganesh, Ratnakar Suvarna, and Cheshire Home superior Sr Amla were present.
