Bangalore, May 19: The condition of the KAS officer, a victim of an alleged attack by miscreants for his action of investigating and exposing some controversial land allotments by some housing cooperative societies, is reported to be ``very critical.”

The 48 year-old S P Mahantesh, who is undergoing treatment in the ICU of a private hospital for the past four days after he was allegedly attacked by some unidentified miscreants, “is in a very critical condition and has been put on ventilator,” the hospital authorities told reporters.

The whistleblower Mahantesh was returning home in his car and was found unconscious near a hotel on May 15.

He was later shifted to hospital after passerby noticed him and informed his family. The KAS officer had suffered head injuries.

The officer had reported irregularities in different housing cooperative societies involving some officials and political figures.

The city police, who have registered a case in the incident, have not been able to make any headway in their investigation so far.
