Mangalore, May 13: The Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Mangalore organized an interactive meeting with Pradeep Singh Kharola, IAS, and commissioner of commercial taxes in Karnataka, at its premises here on Saturday, May 12.
The session was on the topic of Karnataka Value Added Tax (K-VAT) and Goods and Services Tax (GST).
The goods and services tax proposed by the union government will form unified national market in the country, Kharola said. The GST is essential in the economic growth of the country. The new tax procedure which will replace all other indirect taxes and reduce the compliance cost and will prevail for some time until the tax payers are convinced, he opined.
Latha R Kini, president of the programme, delivered welcome address and Sudhir P Ghate, secretary proposed the vote of thanks. Mohammed Ameen, vice president, introduced the chief guest, Pradeep Singh Kharola to the gathering.
KCCI members submitted a memorandum to the commissioner.
