Bangalore, May 7: The State Government has decided to establish a Centre for Innovation and Good Governance in Bangalore at an estimated cost of Rs 43 crore.
Briefing presspersons after a Cabinet meeting on Monday, Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs S Suresh Kumar said a decision was taken to set up the centre based on the recommendation of the Group of Ministers’ Report of the Union Government.
The Centre has wrote to the State on April 1, 2012, asking to set up the centre and the State Government replied to the Centre on April 4, 2012, and expressed its desire to set up the institution in Bangalore.
The main objective of the Centre for Innovation and Good Governance is to conducting evaluation studies of administration, revisiting rules and acts, giving wider publicity to short and long-term policies of the Government, suggesting measures to cut down non-development expenditure, recommending to the Government on administrative reforms and best practices of administration, the Minister said.
The Government has decided to provide working capital of Rs. 1.63 crore to set up the centre.
The Cabinet has decided to amend the Karnataka Guarantee of Services of Citizens Act, 2012 to rename it as the Karnataka Sakala Services Act.
The Cabinet has decided to set aside 50 per cent of jobs in the forest department to graduates (BSc in forestry) of Forestry studied in Forest Colleges in Sirsi and Ponnampet.
