Bhatkal, May 1: Konkani dramatist and playwright Francis Fernandes Cascia was felicitated during the silver jubilee celebrations of St Joseph’s Chapel, Puravarga, on Saturday, April 28.



Cascia’s mother was the parishioner of St Joseph’s chapel and he is the benefactor.  It was the 99th felicitation programme held for Cascia for his dedicated service to the Konkani community.

Karwar Bishop Dr Derek Fernandes presided over the programme. Franciscan vice provincial Fr Gabriel Mathias, Ursuline Franciscan Sisters’ provincial Sr Lenita D’Souza, Bhatkal MLA J D Naik, St Joseph’s chapel former parish priests Fr Simon Pinto, Fr Nicholas D’Souza, Fr Lawrence Pereira and Fr Cajetan Lourenco, parish priest Fr

Parish Priest Fr Balthazar Pinto, Bhatkal deanery vicar Fr Anthony Lopes, Sr Lucella Coelho, and Fr Prashanth Fernandes were the guests of honour on the occasion.
