Mangalore, Apr 27: Water crisis in the city that had people in a quandary for days together, seems to be finally coming to an end.
The water level in the Thumbay dam, that had plunged to 8.2 ft earlier, has now risen to a substantial 13 ft, and is in fact now overflowing.
The news has come as a great relief to the citizens, especially in areas that faced severe shortage for the last 15 days. A resident of Falnir here hoped that at least now the water supply from the corporation will resume its normal course and stay that way.
Due to the crisis, water was being supplied to the city on alternate days and many areas were supplied water through tankers. Only pump at the dam was functioning.
Thanks to the rains that lashed the city over the last week, water is now flowing in the catchment areas at a steady rate.
It is expected that the city will not face any crisis again for at least a month, till the beginning of monsoon.
