Udupi, Apr 18: A woman from Kerala on Wednesday April 18 accused a man from Kundapur of cheating and sexually exploiting her on false promises of marriage.
Sameera Saidu, a native of Cochin, Kerala at a press meet alleged that Adeep Kumar, a resident of Kundapur had promised to marry her in Dubai and forced her to have sex with him and his friends, apart from taking money from her to the tune of Rs 3 lac.
In her complaint, she stated that she was working as a waitress in a Dubai hotel where Adeep was a cashier. In time, the two developed proximity and decided to marry.
In the same year, 2011, Sameera was transferred to Muscat, Oman and continued working for the same hotel over there. However, soon after Adeep reportedly coaxed and compelled her to resign and return to Dubai, on promises of marrying her.
He also promised to find a job for her and arrange visit visa, and allegedly took Dhs 24,000 (about Rs 3,38,000) from her for this purpose. On February 17, he sent her the visit visa and she reached Dubai.
Then on, the two stayed together in different hotels in Dubai, but there was no sign of him fulfilling his promises. One night, when they were put up in one of the hotels, he allegedly brought three men identified as his friends Harish Shetty, Ishwar and Rajesh Shetty to the room and compelled her to satisfy them sexually. When she refused and did not cooperate, he allegedly beat her up in front of his friends.
It was then that she realized Adeep's true colours and understood that he did not mean to marry her but had planned it beforehand to get money from her.
She further said that on March 5, he confined her to a hotel room and vanished with her money and gold without even paying the hotel rent. His mobile phone was switched off, and the next day Sameera got to know that he was in India. She alleged that he had even threatened to kill her if she opened her mouth.
In a letter to the DC, she has urged action against Adeep and also appealed to give her protection as there was a threat to her life.
