Moodbidri, Apr 14: Swastisri Charukeerti Bhattaraka Panditacharyavarya Swamiji of the Jain Mutt here, addressing a press conference at Jain Mutt here on Friday April 13, revealed that the final ceremonial bath (Maha Mastakabhisheka) for the statue of Lord Bahubali at Venoor in Beltangady taluk, will be performed on Sunday April 15.
He said that the Maha Mastakabhisheka will begin at 3 pm on Sunday, and that the Lord will be bathed with the help of 1,008 pitchers by himself, heads of former royal families from the region, religious leaders, and devotees. The Kalashas (pitchers) have been segregated into 11 different categories like Parampara Kalasha, Prathama Kalasha, Ratna Kalasha, Suvarna Kalasha, etc. For the first time ever, the statue will also be bathed with pure, high quality saffron indented for this purpose from Kashmir. This has been sponsored by Sanjay Jain from Guntoor, Andhra Pradesh. It is expected that nearly 5,000 people from different states and different districts of the state will converge at Venoor to witness this rare occasion, the Swamiji added.
On this occasion, a religious meeting will be held at 3.30 pm. The Swamiji said that Dr D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari, will preside this meeting, and that he himself will deliver benedictory address. Various other dignitaries and religious leaders will be present, and Dr Padmaprasada Ajila will release the work, ‘Satabdha Namavali’. Former union minister, V Dhanajaya Kumar, SCDCC Bank president, M N Rajendra Kumar, MP, Jayaprakash Hegde, and MLA, Abhay Chandra Jain will take part as chief guests, he narrated.
