Mangalore, Apr 4: Budding singers aged between 6 and 13 years will have a golden opportunity to get professionally trained in singing at a workshop to be held on Sunday April 22 at the Centenary Memorial Hall, St Joseph's Seminary, Jeppu.
Well known voice trainer and musician Jossie Moras from Dubai, who has taken several 'Vocal Touch' training sessions for young and adults in the UAE, Doha, Oman, and parts of India, will be holding the session for budding singers.
Says Jossie Moras, vocal coach and choral director at Melodia Voice Studio, Dubai, "Every child loves to sing and we all agree that children should be encouraged to sing. The question is how and what songs a child should sing? Apart from the songs children learn in schools, they listen to music on radio, internet, TV and blindly imitate songs and videos they like. In the bargain, many children and teens ruin their voices trying to sing songs which are not suitable for those young and still developing voices. Many of our children and parents are not aware of a huge collection of children’s music available through various channels and on the websites. It is our responsibility to provide them with the right kind of music and make them aware; what is good and what is not."

He further adds, "Vocal skills, such as correct posture, breathing, diction, music reading, tone, blend, musical interpretation and ear training should be taught to them at this stage. Most of all, children should be taught to sing keeping in mind the importance of vocal health."
"We have been encouraged by the response generated from last Vocal Touch sesson held for adults on March 11. There has been request from parents to organise a similar session for children. We are hopeful that many children will use this opportunity to improve their singing talents," says Lancy Madtha, whose Integrated Freight & Logistics, Dubai was co-organizer of the event.
The Vocal Touch session for children will be sponsored by Integrated Freight & Logistics, Dubai, Merit Freight Systems Dubai and Felix CCtv Systems Dubai and Mangalore.
