Bantwal, Apr 2: Although people are getting intelligent, there is no dearth of people who were cheated by rosy advertisements in visual media. Such an incident has taken place in Bollayi in the taluk.
The wife of Mohammed Shabbir, residing at Bollayi–Jadakodi, near here, placed an order over phone for ‘Sandhi Sudha’, a pain relieving oil with the distributor by seeing a promo advertisement in a TV channel. “The distributor Venkateshwar Enterprises in Shimoga dispatched three bottles of Sandhi Sudha and collected Rs 3,200 from Shabbir’s wife. The distributor claimed that she would be reliever of her joint ache by using just one bottle and if this was not the case they promised to take back the remaining two bottles and refund the money,” said Gulf-employed Shabbir to Daijiworld.
When Shabbir’s wife found no relief even after exhausting three bottles of the oil, he called the distributors in Shimoga, Chennai, and Hyderabad, but got no response. He shared his bitter experience in placing an order without checking the genuineness of companies that advertise their products in print, e-media, and on TV channels. He also cautioned the readers not to fall victims to such bogus companies who swindle unwary customers.
