Udupi, Apr 2: “More financial aid by organizing a few programmes will help realize the objective of social justice and economic empowerment,” said Udupi-Chikmagalur MP K Jayaprakash Hegde.
He was the chief guest speaking at the inaugural function of the new office of Karnataka Minority Development Board and distribution of loan facilities of Rs 111.24 lac to 532 beneficiaries under various projects of Christian Community Development Board for the year 2011–12, during a function held at Atal Bihari Vajpayee auditorium, district headquarter, Manipal, on Sunday April 1.
“Guidelines on a few projects are essential and there lies a need to hike the loan amount to avoid seeking bank loans,” added Hegde.
He also suggested that the difficulties faced by the minority community in availing benefits under Ganga Kalyan Yojana be studied.
ZP president Katpady Shankar Poojary inaugurated the new office of Karnataka minority Development Board.
MLA Raghupati Bhat presided over the programme.
Karnataka Minority Development Board president N B Abubakker, Coastal Development Authority chairman Nagaraj Shetty, Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon, zilla panchayat CEO Prabhakar Sharma, taluk panchayat president Devdas Hebbar, state Christian Development Board member Gladys D’Almeida, Gerald Fernandes, state Haj committee member Salim Ambagilu, District Waqf Board president Budan Saheb, Walter Cyril Pinto, and district Karnataka Minority Development Board manager Sridar Bhandary were present on the occasion.
