Chitradurga, Mar 29: It's not everyday you come across stories that speak of intense emotions, stories which, when you read them, you cannot help but utter a small 'thank you' to the Almighty.
A couple from Chitradurga is perhaps the happiest one in the world right now. For, Roopa and Manjunath have together experienced the indescribable joy of getting their only daughter back from the 'dead'.
The couple were childless for several years after marriage. They prayed in temples, offered pujas and did everything possible to seek divine intervention. The Almighty fulfilled their prayers in a big way, blessing them with twins, a boy and a girl.
The couple, residents of Hosadurga taluk of Chitradurga, were delighted that their prayers were answered. The couple's joy knew no bounds when Roopa delivered the twins in Basaweshwara hospital recently.
But their joy was shortlived. To their utter shock, they were told by the doctors that due to extreme weakness, the baby girl could not survive. The couple could not believe their ears, but had no go but to accept their fate.
The doctors also advised the couple to shift the baby boy to a better hospital, which they did to make sure they do not lose their other child too. The boy was shifted to a hospital in Davangere.
Meantime, the bereaved and aggrieved couple took their baby girl, who was declared dead, for burial to their native place in Hosadurga. But little did they know that fate had some other plans, and that their happiness that died so soon was about to take another birth.
To the utmost surprise of everyone, particularly the parents, the baby girl was found to be breathing only a few seconds before she was to be buried. The girl who had been declared dead only sometime back was full of life. For the couple, it was a great relief, made evident by the mother who started crying in joy.
The baby was immediately shifted to a hospital again, and since then she has been showing signs of recovery. The family members found their lost happiness, and all ended well.
However, the relief was mixed with anger at the attitude of the doctors who so easily had declared the infant dead. The family members and some other people protested against the doctors for their negligence and demanded action against them.
Perhaps as expected, the doctor who had announced the baby's death, denied it and claimed he had never said she had died!
