UAE: Clevin D'Souza Elected President of Emirates Pangalites

Dubai, Mar 22: Clevin D'Souza was unanimously elected president of Emirates Pangalites, UAE for the decennial year 2012 -2013 during 9th annual general body meeting held at Sivstar Restaurant party hall, in Karama, Dubai.
Clevin D'Souza, a good comedy actor, has acted in several Konkani dramas in the UAE and back home including the Daiji Rang Mandir, Francis Fernades troupe and Sangon Mugdhana Kalakar in UAE.
The annual general body meeting started with a prayer by Ignatius Alva followed by a welcome address by president Vinay Vaz.

Joint secretary Ashwin D'Souza presented the annual report for the year 2010-2011 with details of the activities for the year.
Treasurer Joel Quodras presented finance report for the year and informed that the association has continued to support social causes, as it has been doing for the last 9 years, such as providing books, uniforms and school fees for the poor children of elementary and high school in Shankerpura, and has also contributed towards mid-day meal for poor children. It also donated Rs 3 lac towards the physics laboratory at St John’s P U College, Shankerpura, and contributed towards the church reconstruction work.
Ignatius Alva, coordinator of Emirates Pangalites Social Welfare Sponsorship Projects, informed that during the year 2011, 94 poor children and elders from Christha Jyothi Children Home, Kolalgiri, Snehalaya Children Home, Udyavara and Mt Rosary Old Age Home in Alangar were sponsored with the help of individual donors with a total amount of Rs 10,94,000. And since 2004, Emirates Pangalites has coordinated and helped to collect and distribute more than Rs 29 lac to these three projects.
The election was conducted by Michael Castelino, founder president and advisor of Emirates Pangalites. He informed that the Association which was started in January 2003 with an objective of bringing all Pangalites in UAE together under one roof and support the needy and poor with financial and medical help is successful in reaching its objective with the help of sponsors, donors and well-wishers. He also called on the newly-elected office-bearers to carry on good work of Emirates Pangalites.
The Association has kept its promise in reaching its objective and in this direction established Rs 10 lac 'Emirates Pangalites Social Welfare Fund' in the year 2010. The proceeds of this fund will be utilized to support the poor and needy and other social and charity projects.
