Udupi, Mar 16: “Congress candidate Jayaprakash Hegde will achieve a major victory in the forthcoming Udupi–Chikmagalur parliamentary bypoll,” said KPCC secretary Kadur C Nanjappa.
Addressing media persons on Friday March 16, Nanjappa said that he had witnessed the waves in favor of the Congress among voters in four legislative assembly constituencies in Udupi district as he was assigned the role of party overseer by KPCC president Dr G Parameshwar. “The same situation is being witnessed in 4 legislative assembly constituencies in Chikmagalur district,” he added.
“The voters in Udupi–Chikmagalur parliamentary bypoll are fed up of the BJP-led state administration that is involved in corruption, favoritism, land and mining scams, and porngate that has disgraced the national culture,” added Nanjappa.
Congress candidate K Jayaprakash Hegde has a clean character and has social concern. “The bypoll will be detrimental in both state and national politics as its been viewed by UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Congressmen. Union ministers S M Krishna, Veerappa Moily, Mallikarjuna Kharge and Muniyappa, former minister Janardhan Poojary, state assembly opposition leaders Siddaramayya and Motamma, AICC general secretary Oscar Fernandes and veteran Congressmen have toured both Udupi and Chikmagalur district on the bypoll campaign. AICC chief secretary Madhusudan Mistry will arrive in Chikmagalur on Friday March 16,” he added.
“The voters will teach a lesson to the BJP that has gained political mileage by inciting communal sentiments in Chikmagalur. The majority of voters in the taluk have no idea about the JD(S) candidate. Both BJP and JD(S) are luring the minority community to divide the votes,” said Nanjappa.
