Udupi: DGP Shankar Bidari Oversees Security Arrangements for Bypoll

Udupi, Mar 15: DG-IGP Shankar Bidari on Thursday March 15 briefed the media about security arrangements that are being done for the forthcoming Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha bypoll.
As many as 416 police officers, 2,843 policemen, 1,361 home guards, 24 KSRP platoons, 26 DAR platoons, six platoons of BSF and four platoons of CISF will be deployed in 1,633 polling booths to maintain law and order and ensure peaceful and fair elections. Udupi district will have 731 and Chikmagalur 902 polling booths.
189 sector mobiles will help the police personnel to monitor the polling process in general and naxal-affected sensitive polling booths in particular.
41 check posts will monitor the movement of traffic. The revenue, excise, sale tax and forest department officials will also assist the police at the checkposts, said Shankar Bidari.
