Sharjah, Mar 12: Karnataka Sangha Sharjah (KSS), a premier Kannada Association working under the auspices of the Indian Association Sharjah, came into existence in the year 2002 with an objective to promote Kannada Culture and help the community people. The KSS recently unanimously elected veteran and founder member Sathish Poojary as its president for the year 2012.
Karnataka Sangha Sharjah is now gearing up for its decennial celebrations which will be held on May 18 this year at Holiday International Hotel, Sharjah. It will be a fun-filled multi-cultural event and will include the Mayura Award presentation ceremony.
Well-known leaders and dignitaries from various religious faiths will be specially flown in from India along with local guests to witness the mega event. The grand celebration will be a day-long event with a variety of cultural activities.
Karnataka Sangha Sharjah has been well-known for its charitable works for the last 10 years, which include free health check-up back home for the masses, free medical check-up for its members and families in the UAE, providing financial aids to a few deceased members' families, ‘Sion Ashram’ of Belthangady, ‘Sandhesha’ of Bijjodi, Mangalore, providing air tickets to some to repatriate to India, and so on.
President Satish Poojary has appealed to all Samaritans and Kannadigas living in the UAE to be part of the event in large numbers and support KSS in continuing the noble cause.
