Bangalore, Mar 10: Even as the Bangalore advocates continued their boycott of courts following their clash with the media in the City Civil Court premises on March 2 when the CBI police produced the former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhana Reddy, the Bellary mining baron, the State Government has announced the four-point terms of reference of the Judicial Inquiry Commission.
The judicial inquiry commission headed by retired high court judge R G Vaidyanathan to probe the violence that occurred during the clash between journalists and advocates at the City Civil Court Complex here on March 2 has been asked to submit its report within three months.
Justice Vaidyanathan had earlier headed the judicial inquiry commission into the kidnap and killing of former minister H Nagappa by the forest bandit Veerappan, who died in a police encounter later.
The State Government has asked the commission to enquire into the sequence of events and circumstances as well as reasons leading to the extensive violence, burning of the private and public vehicles, physical violence between media persons, advocates and police in the premises of the City Civil Court Complex here, said and official press release issued by the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.
The judicial inquiry commission has also been asked to identify persons and organisations responsible for the incidents.
It has also been asked to ascertain whether the police performed their duties diligently in dealing with the situation effectively and promptly.
The panel has been told to look into any other point which arises from and is connected with or incidental to the act or omission relating to the above incidents including steps and measures to be taken to prevent occurrence of such events in future, according to the press release.
