Mangalore, Mar 10:
Women dominate the Mangalore police commissionerate, forming a major percentage of its staff. They could also extend their domination into the city crime branch and the police control rooms, said city police commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh.

He spoke while presiding over the Women's Day celebration organized at police commissionerate office here on Thursday March 8.

He also stressed that women's service should not be limited to any particular unit of the police department, rather, women should show their caliber in all its units. He also pointed out that though many women successfully complete their training and join the department, there is lack of participation during annual police sports meet.

He also listened to the grievances of women police personnel on the occasion.

Prajna Counseling director Hilda Rayappan said that when any woman approaches the police with any issue or problem, quick and positive response should be given. She stressed on the need for a harmonious relation between women and police department.

Roshni Nilaya assistant professor Vinutha spoke on the health issues of women.

Women police station staff Kalavathi conducted the programme. DCP Dharmaiah and ACP Subrahmanya were present on the occasion.

Indeed good read of the progress and importance of women in this force! I hope the concerned will take note of a minor observation I make every time I pass by! The top portion of the clock tower of this new edifice appears incomplete and/or odd, due to the fact that the sloping roof is not 'crowned' such sloped steeples usually have an ornamental grill around the top spike which is absent at the New Police Commissioners office. It is similar to a lady without any necklace. I am sure the architect will be able at set the matter right which is needed to provide more grace to this nice building in M'lore!! Good wishes!
