Dharwad, Mar 8: The police personnel of Vidyanagar police station, Hubli, arrested three doctors serving at Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), Hubli, on Wednesday March 7, on the allegation of medical negligence. They have been identified as Dr Rajashekhar, Dr Ravi, and Dr Manasa.
Mahantesha Mayappa Nagamma from Kalasoor village in Savanur taluk, Haveri district, had been admitted into KIMS some time back. The doctors conducted surgery on him on Tuesday. After the surgery, the boy’s health started showing upheavals. The doctors, perhaps, knowing that the patient will not survive, forced the family members to take him away and discharged the boy, the family members complained.
At the railway station on way to their home, the boy developed complications. Hence, he was brought to KIMS again. He was admitted again, but he breathed his last on Tuesday night at the hospital. As the family members of the boy stuck to the demand that the three doctors who caused the death of their son have to be summoned to police station, they were asked to come to the police station.
On being produced in a court here, the three doctors were remanded to judicial custody till March 23.
