Earlier on Tuesday March 6, Janardhana Poojary, participated in door-to-door visits in the district to infuse a sense of enthusiasm among Congress activists. In addition to some parts of the city, he also covered places like Hoode, Bengre, Kadekar, etc, and many Congress leaders were found trying to match the brisk walk of the veteran leader. Poojary also addressed election meetings at Malpe and here.
Speaking at Hoode, Poojary said that the scams and scandals involving BJP government has given an impression to others in the country that Karnataka is full of thugs, thieves, corrupt people, and robbers. “It is your responsibility to erase this image by voting for Congress,” he stressed. He said people are fed up at reading new stories about scams and involvement of BJP leaders with sexual escapades day in and day out. “Do you think these things add to your self respect?” he questioned.
Speaking to reporters at Udupi during his visit for door-to-door visits, Poojary said that the plan of JDS to defeat Congress nominee by fielding its own candidate for the Lok Sabha bypoll will fall flat. He said during his visits all over Chikmagalur district, he had sensed that there is a definite tilt among the voters towards his party. He also demanded for income tax investigation into the assets owned by Sriramulu and Yeddyurappa, based on the statement made by Sriramulu that he and Reddy brothers had spent Rs 200 crore during the last election to ensure victory for BJP, and that they had also given additional ten crore rupees per month to their party.
He said that the Chief Minister of the state, who suffers from lack of experience, is unable to exercise proper control over his ministers, and that he shudders when Yeddyurappa gets upset.
When questioned, he stressed that he stands by the statement that the lawyers were wrong in assaulting media persons at civil court at Bangalore, and that the decision taken by advocates and Adovcates Association Bangalore does not in any way change his opinion, as he stands by truth.
Leaders like MLA, U T Khader, entrepreneur, Pramod Madhwaraj, K P Nanjundi, Harikrishna Bantwal, KPCC secretary, M A Gafoor, district Congress president, Veronica Carnelio, and others accompanied Poojary.
