Mangalore, Mar 6: Eight students trained at Manipal Career Excellence, Kuntikana, here are among the only 19 students selected from the entire Dakshina Kannada District, this year in the National Talent Search Examination (State level) held on November 20, 2011. A total number of 1956 students had appeared from the district.
The selected students are Madhu Nayak from St Theresa's School, Benfore (Rank 22), Shishirdeep from Delhi Public School (Rank 27), Karan Gupta from KV, Panambur (Rank 28), Kenrick Pinto from Rotary High School (Rank 29), Pradyumna B from KV Panambur (Rank 29), Shashank P from Sharada Vidyalaya (Rank 30), Manoje from Delhi Public School (Rank 56) and Tushar M from Canara Boy's school Dongerkery (Rank 69).
Department of State Education and Research Training (DSERT) has selected altogether 233 students out of 43833 appeared from entire Karnataka. These selected students are eligible to write the II stage of the exam at National Level which will be conducted by NCERT on May 13.
National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) awards 1000 scholarship to the talented students of Class VIII each year, selected through its National Talent Search Scheme and then nurture the talent
by providing financial assistance in the form of scholarship. The awardees receive a scholarship of Rs 6,000 per annum starting from Std IX till PhD. In 2010-11 four students and in 2009-10 two students from Manipal Career Excellence were selected as National Talent Scholars and they have been receiving the scholarships.
