Dubai, Feb 29: Mangalore Konkans Dubai is set to conduct the biennial Konkani singing contest and preliminary round of ‘Gulf Voice of Mangalore’ season III on May 4, 2012, at Dubai Gem Private School Auditorium (Near St Mary’s Church, opposite to K M Trading).
The morning session will commence with registration at 9.30 am and close around 2.00 pm followed by lunch for all participants and the audience. The afternoon session will start at 3.00 pm.
The contest is open to all Konkani-speaking residents of the UAE. The various categories are 6-8 years, 9-11 years, 12-14 years, 15-17 years, and 18 years and above. There will be solo singing for all ages, duet (mixed and same gender) for above 18 years category, and mixed group with no age bar.
The Gulf Voice of Mangalore competition is open to all persons of Mangalorean origin, holding a valid UAE residence visa. The participants can be professional or non-professional singers and must be above 18 years of age. Previous year’s winners are not allowed to participate.
Six male and six female singers will be selected for the semi-final of Gulf Voice of Mangalore which will be held around the end of September or first week of October, 2012. Two finalists will be selected and they will participate in the finals to be held in Doha, Qatar, on October 19, 2012.
